Renowned Indian Law Scholar to Speak at Law School

Marc Galanter, an internationally known authority on India’s legal system, will give a public talk at the law school on Aug. 31.

Galanter is the John and Rylla Bosshard Professor of Law and South Asian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

The author of seminal studies of litigation in the United States, Galanter is the leading American authority on India’s laws and legal system. A Fulbright Scholar at the University of Delhi and a Fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies, he wrote the foreword to “Perspectives on Fundamental Rights in South Asia,” a symposium issue of the Drexel Law Review published in Spring 2010.

The talk, co-sponsored by Drexel Law Review and the South Asia Center at the University of Pennsylvania, will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 240. It will be followed by a reception on the 2nd Floor Gallery.
