Co-op and Study Abroad Opportunities in East and Southeast Asia
On November 27th OIP joined Steinbright Career Development Center, Study Abroad, and the Office of Alumni Relations in an informational session geared toward co-op and study abroad opportunities in East and Southeast Asia. This event, held in the atrium of Bossone, encouraged the discussion of these expanding opportunities for both work and study. Peter J. Franks, Vice Provost for Career Education moderated the event discussions. He was joined by OIP's Dr. Julie Mostov, Vice Provost for Global Initiatives, and College of Engineering's Dr. Bruce Eisenstein, Vice Dean.
The program hosted a panel discussion, lead by Peter J. Franks, with participant students Jaise John and Amanda Pentecost, and alumni Claire Martin Witherel and LeeAnn Haaf. Attendees had the opportunity to learn firsthand from these students and alumni what it is like to study and work in these areas of Asia.
After the discussion session, Susan Braun, the Manager of International Co-op, gave a presentation on funding possibilities. She shared important information regarding The Freeman Foundation's funding assistance.
To conclude the night's activities, Dr. Teck-Kah Lim, Professor of Physics presented additional Co-op opportunities in Malaysia, and the students had time to inform themselves about each of the programs discussed. Tables with representatives from Alumni Relations, Study Abroad, and Steinbright International Co-op were available to provide added information to interested students.
