A Trip to Improve Infrastructure and Quality of Life In Honduras

On this trip, a team of 12 Drexel students and two faculty members went to Honduras as the Architecture Brigade to construct homes for a family chosen by Global Brigades. They were placed in a community in Honduras and worked alongside a family to construct their home. Global Brigades teams up with villages to help out families who want to start projects. The families contribute some money towards the project, then Global Brigades, with the help of our donations, start the projects with the help of contractors, family members, volunteers from the villages and volunteers from Global Brigades. OIP and Study Abroad present at Annual NAFSA Conference

Erica Sebastian, Study Abroad Advisor and Incoming Exchange Manager in the Study Abroad Office, and Adam Zahn, Program Coordinator in the Office of International Programs, were selected to present as this year’s NAFSA: Association of International Educators Annual Conference in San Diego, California. Their presentation, “Planting the Seed: Increasing Study Abroad Participation Through Short-Term Programs,” sought to demonstrate how short-term faculty-led programs and international service trip can provide better access for underrepresented groups in study abroad as well as promote longer term international experiences, such as study abroad exchange and international co-op.
