      Drexel Applied Innovation has launched a new program to encourage and support the formation of startup companies based on Drexel research. The "Drexel Express Startup License" is a startup and investor friendly licensing agreement with pre-set terms. This new licensing tool will be used in cases where the startup is partnering with Drexel Applied Innovation to successfully complete designated commercialization pathways.

      Currently, some users are required to use a password different from their main Drexel account password (the password you use to login to your computer and Drexel One).       For those conducting human subject research, on January 2, 2020 the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), Institutional Review Board (IRB) will launch updated, user-friendly webpages.       January 18, 2019

      In November, 2018, the University approved a new Intellectual Property Policy covering the innovations developed here at Drexel that are protected by patents and copyrights. Approval of this policy was the culmination of a long-term effort by the administration, Faculty Senate and academic leaders of the Colleges and Schools to modernize our policies in light of changes to federal law, policies and best practices. This new policy replaces the following policies, Patent, Copyright and Courses Delivered Over the Internet, which have been consolidated and updated into one policy.  Further, the new policy harmonizes Drexel’s approach to intellectual property, replacing three older policies that conflicted with governing law as well as each other.

    • Information Regarding National Science Foundation Important Notice NO 144 Sexual Harassment

      October 24, 2018

      On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, the National Science Foundation (NSF) announced plans to combat sexual harassment and other forms of harassment within the agency and organizations and field sites where NSF-funded research is conducted. The new policy, released on Friday, September 21, 2018, requires the 2,000 U.S. institutions of higher education and other organizations that receive NSF funds to report findings of sexual harassment, other forms of harassment, or sexual assault by researchers beginning October 21, 2018. NSF plans to add an award term and condition that spells out core obligations for awardees and imposes new reporting obligations.

      On Wednesday June 19, 2018, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued the Final Rule delay for the general compliance date of the 2018 Requirements for an additional 6-month period until January 21, 2019.       As announced in the August issue of the Office of Research newsletter, legacy PDF applications are no longer being accepted by Grants.gov as of December 31, 2017. Instead, applications to federal agencies (other than NIH and NSF*) now must be submitted via the Grants.gov Workspace platform, a shared, online environment where multiple members of a grant team may simultaneously access different forms within an application. The platform will allow users to edit, save, upload, and submit applications via the cloud.
