Professor Maguire is an Assistant Teaching Professor with Drexel University’s Hospitality Management department. She has taught in the department for the past twenty-four years and has played an integral role in the design of the department’s curriculum.
Professor Maguire’s areas of concentration are restaurant/catering management, purchasing and cost controls. She spent many years in hotel and restaurant kitchens and in management positions in the front of the house within these venues. Her initial position at Drexel was as the Facility Manager of the department’s kitchens and Drexel’s full service restaurant the Academic Bistro. In this capacity she oversaw purchasing provisions for classes, managed the Academic Bistro’s catering component and assumed financial responsibility for the entire operation. For a time Professor Maguire served as academic advisor for the entire culinary arts and hospitality population while instructing and also recruiting incoming students. She later transitioned to an instructor position and now draws from her professional experience to educate students in the department of Hospitality Management.
Professor Maguire has also served on advisory boards for local high school programs as well as for a local restaurant school program.
