Fall 2014 Drexel Tenet Preferred KHPE POS

Medical and Prescription Coverage

The Benefits Plan offers three medical coverage options, allowing employees to pick the best plan for them:

The same prescription drug coverage is included in each option regardless of which medical option you select. Individuals on maintenance medications will need to utilize the mail order program or incur a higher co-pay for their prescription.

Drexel's medical and prescription coverage providers both offer online benefit management:

  • Independence Blue Cross' website allows members to view benefits, account information, completed claims, and area physicians
  • ExpressScripts' website allows members to order prescriptions to be delivered by mail, price and compare drugs, and access health and medication information

Medical/Prescription Coverage Waiver Bonus

Full-time benefit-eligible employees scheduled to work 40 hours weekly, and who have coverage through a spouse or other source (other than Medicare), may elect to waive Medical/Prescription coverage and receive a $100 monthly waiver bonus. To receive the waiver credit, log into the Drexel Benefits Service Center through DrexelOne, waive your medical coverage, and then submit the Medical Waiver (Opt-Out) Statement (linked below) with a copy of the front and back of your current medical card. Employees that have waived their Medical/Prescription coverage are required to submit a new waiver form yearly.

Dental Coverage

Drexel University offers employees two dental options, a Base and a Preferred plan, both through CIGNA.  These plans operate as fee-for-service dental plans and provide a solid base of preventive and restorative services. The Preferred plan, however, provides higher reimbursement percentages for most dental services.

Both plans utilize the "core" network and have the group number 3333911.

Vision Coverage

Drexel’s vision plan is offered through Davis Vision, administered through Independence Blue Cross. The plan offers coverage for such services as eye exams, frames and lenses, contact lenses, as well as discounts on select eye care supplies. Davis Vision provides a schedule of in-network and out-of-network vision care services, and employees can search for preferred vendors in the “Search for additional IBC providers, including vision and pharmacy” link located under the Find a Doctor section of the Independent Blue Cross website.
