- Successful completion of Honors coursework with a grade of B- or better prior to graduation following the specifics outlined below:
Credits
Students admitted into the Honors Program PRIOR to Fall 2010, must successfully complete at least seven (7) Honors credits.
Students admitted into the Honors Program DURING or AFTER Fall 2010, must successfully complete at least sixteen (16) Honors credits.
All students attempting to graduate with Distinction must complete a minimum of 32 Honors credits.
Freshman Year
Freshmen Honors Students are required to take HNRS 200, a 1.0 credit, introductory Honors course. Students must earn a minimum grade of ‘B-‘ in order to fulfill this requirement. You are not permitted to drop your HNRS 200 class; nor can you switch sections. HNRS 200 is a great opportunity to explore a subject that is different than what you are learning within your major courses—so enjoy it! You may find interest in a topic you never thought you would.
(Transfer students and students joining the Honors Program after their freshmen year are not required to complete HNRS 200)
Sophomore Year
You must complete at least one 3.0 credit Honors Course by the end of your second year. There are a few ways of earning Honors credit that will fulfill this requirement: Honors sections, Honors Colloquia, Honors Options or Great Works Symposium courses. Failure to complete this Honors credit requirement will result in your dismissal from the Honors Program.
Pre-Junior/Junior Year
There are no specific requirements for you to complete by the end of your Pre-Junior/Junior year. However, you should be taking Honors courses during this time to ensure you complete the requirements to graduate from the Pennoni Honors College.
Senior Year
If you intend to graduate with Honors or with Distinction, you should first review the requirements for graduation from the Pennoni Honors College, and then contact the Honors Program Coordinator, Carly Day, to ensure you are on the right track.
Transfer Students
You must complete at least one 3.0 credit Honors Course within your first academic year at Drexel University. There are several ways to earn Honors credit that will fulfill this requirement: Honors sections, Honors Colloquia, Honors Options, or Great Works Symposium courses. Failure to complete this Honors requirement will result in your dismissal from the Honors Program.
Failure to meet these minimum requirements may result in Honors Probation or dismissal from the Honors Program.
