Graduate Minor in Creative Interdisciplinary Research - Information Session
Thursday, July 20, 2017
5:00 PM-6:00 PM
You’re invited to an information session on a new graduate minor in Creative Interdisciplinary Research.
Being
successful in graduate school, and even more so after graduate school,
requires creativity to solve challenging problems, typically while
working in a team with people of very different backgrounds. “How to be
creative” and “how to work in teams with others outside your area” are
skills that are often learned incidentally over time, whereas specific
training in the best tools for being effective in these areas provides a
rare opportunity to jump ahead.
The graduate minor in
Creative Interdisciplinary Research is specifically designed for
students to learn how to apply effective creativity techniques to
address real problems in an interdisciplinary team setting.
The
minor is composed of four courses: Two new courses entitled
“Interdisciplinary Team Research: Principles and Practice” and
“Enhancing the Creativity of a Major Research Idea”, and two courses
from a list of electives that demonstrate creativity and teamwork drawn
from across all of Drexel’s colleges and schools.
The
new courses are taught by faculty from across Drexel (Arts and
Sciences, Engineering, Education, Business) who are experts in applying
creative techniques and effective teamwork.
Interdisciplinary teams will work on term-long projects while being coached in best practices for forming and working in teams.
The
information sessions will be held in the conference room of the
Graduate College in Main 301 on the following dates. Refreshments will
be provided.
Tuesday, July 11 at 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, July 20 at 5:00 p.m.
Please
bring your questions to an information session. If you have questions
and cannot attend, please send them to Professor Paul Gondek, or
Professor Fraser Fleming (fff27@drexel.edu).
The
minor and courses are open to students from all colleges who wish to
enhance their work, and be better prepared for their future.
We look forward to meeting you at an information session!
