Requirements

• Transcripts
  

  Provide transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

• International Transcript Evaluation (international applicants only)
  

  Transcripts must be evaluated by an approved agency for admittance into this program. For more information on transcript evaluations, please refer to the Admission Application Instructions.

• Standardized Test Scores
  

  GRE test scores are required, minimum score varies.

  TOEFL scores are required for international applicants or applicants who earned a degree outside the U.S. (minimum scores: 90/577/233). Scores will be reviewed based on section scores and total scores. IELTS scores may be submitted in lieu of TOEFL scores.

• Essay
  

  Your essay should address the following points:

  • Introduction — Tell us why you want to earn a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences. What career path are you planning to pursue with a PhD?
  • Research Interest
    • What is your research question or area of interest?
    • How does your area of research match the research of one of the PhD faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences at Drexel?
  • Outline the steps and resources you believe it would take to "answer" your research question. In other words, we would like to receive preliminary information about the research plan you want to develop and implement in pursuit of your PhD.
    • What skills do you need to learn to conduct your research?
    • Do you need human subjects in your research plan?
    • What specific equipment would you need to measure your variables of interest or outcomes?
    • What type of community, clinical, or laboratory resources, if any, would you need to conduct your research plan?
  • How many years do you have to dedicate to learning the skills required to answer your question?

• Résumé
  

  Submit your résumé by mail or email it as an attachment to enroll@drexel.edu.

• Letters of Recommendation
  

  Three letters of recommendation are required. Recommendations should include one from a previous supervisor and one from a mentor/advisor.

  Use the Electronic Letter of Recommendation form to submit your recommendation letters.

• I-20 Application and Supporting Financial Documents (international applicants only)
  

  Print and complete the I-20 Application Form [PDF] and submit it with your supplemental materials.

• Interview
  

  The department will contact competitive applicants who have completed applications for an interview.

• Academic Experience
  

  Submit all college/university transcripts. Applicants must provide proof that they have earned at least a bachelor's degree (a master's, DPT, or other advanced degree is preferred) from an accredited U.S. college or university, or an equivalent degree from a non-U.S. university or college. A degree in physical therapy is not required. Applicants from all health or rehabilitation-related backgrounds (e.g. kinesiology, occupational therapy, exercise science, biomedical or rehabilitation engineering, etc.) are welcomed.

• Clinical Experience
  

  It is preferred that applicants with clinical degrees (PT, OT, etc.) have two years of relevant clinical experience beyond that required to complete the professional degree.
