Admission Requirements

Master of Family Therapy Program

  • Graduate Admissions Application: We prefer you submit your application online, but you may submit paper application. Apply online or use the paper application (PDF).
  • Application fee: $75 (waived for students who apply online or submit application during campus visit; not applicable for programs that use centralized application service).
  • Essay: Describe your pertinent human services experiences and how they will enhance your development as a couple and family therapist.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation: Recommendation letters must include address, phone number, and signature of recommender. The envelope must be submitted unopened.
  • Transcripts: Official transcripts must be sent directly to Drexel from all colleges/universities you have attended. Transcripts must be submitted in sealed envelope directly from colleges/universities. Preferred GPA is at least 3.0.
  • Mandatory Personal Group Interview.

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

  • Transcript Evaluation: All international students applying to a graduate program must have their transcripts evaluated by the approved agency: World Education Services (WES), 212-966-6311, Bowling Green Station, P.O. Box 5087, New York, NY 10274-5087, Web site:
  • TOEFL: Applicants who have not received a degree in the United States are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). An official score report must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service. For more information visit the Web site:, then click on TOEFL.
  • I-20/DS-2019 and Supporting Financial Documents (international students only): Please print, complete, and submit the I-20/DS-2019 Application Form (PDF).

Priority admission deadline is January 1 of the year in which applicants would like to begin the program (e.g., January 1, 2014 for Fall 2014). Regular admissions will continue on a rolling basis after the priority deadline until the class is full. Applicants are encouraged to submit their materials as early as possible to ensure full consideration.
