Welcome from Dr. Fleetwood
In the late 1800s, when less than one percent of the nation graduated from college, Drexel’s founder, Anthony Drexel, envisioned a place that would enable young working-class women and men to improve their lives through education. That vision of accessible education for a diverse student body became a reality – and from that vision Drexel has emerged as a highly-respected comprehensive research university.
Drexel’s founding principle, the principle of “learning both to know and to do,” now demands that our students be prepared to assume leadership roles in our diverse global environment. Students must be prepared with nothing less than the best education, from innovative and talented faculty, whose varied experiences, perspectives and backgrounds mirror our global community.
The research we do, the students we educate, and the advances we make in fields such as engineering, the sciences, business, medicine and law, all benefit from the range of approaches that differences in ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and socioeconomic status can bring. Drexel stands committed to continuing to recruit a diverse faculty, administration, student body and staff, and to fostering a climate that is supportive, equitable and welcoming for all.
We urge you to use the links provided to see what Drexel is doing to help create an exemplary academic climate that will be responsive to global needs, and hope you’ll visit this website often to see the many positive changes that will shape Drexel’s future.
