New Dragons Faculty Learning Community
If you started as a full-time faculty member at Drexel University within the last three years, we invite you to join the New Dragons Faculty Learning Community (FLC). FLCs have been shown to increase belonging and ease transitions into faculty life or entry into a new institution, as well as provide increased support for faculty research and teaching excellence. Monthly meetings are designed to help you network with colleagues and mentors at Drexel, gain confidence in balancing teaching, service, and research workloads, and increase your understanding of Drexel’s mission to prepare graduates of diverse backgrounds to become purpose-driven professionals and agents for positive change.
Participants commit to:
- Attend monthly workshops and discussions (3 meetings per term for 90 minutes each).
- Set and attain one concrete professional goal (such as a grant application, pedagogy trainings, or another teaching or research-related goal).
- Support fellow faculty by engaging with discussion topics and resources, and listening deeply during shared conversations.
Benefits of participation:
Those who complete the FLC requirements will exit the program with a certificate of completion, personalized feedback and professional goals for their teaching, and a network of peers. They will also meet and engage with leaders from a number of academic and non-academic units across Drexel University.
