Environmental Health & Radiation Safety
Drexel University is committed to promoting a safe and environmentally sound campus environment that is conducive to the highest level of education and research. The Department of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety anticipates, recognizes, evaluates and controls all safety hazards at the University while striving to protect human health and the environment.
The department ensures health and safety compliance across campus by assisting research, teaching and clinical departments in meeting all federal, state and local standards and regulations. The department provides a variety of services to reduce the regulatory burden placed on University departments and personnel in meeting their regulatory obligations.
In an effort to regulate and correct any potentially hazardous situations on campus, Environmental Health and Radiation Safety routinely inspects all University areas, including the research laboratories and clinical departments. This protocol enables the University to limit liability and reduce the risk of injury and/or illness to students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Environmental Health and Radiation Safety responds to emergency situations immediately upon notification and manages the necessary clean up and management of any hazardous areas or situations in an ongoing effort to protect the health and well being of our occupants.
Training and education is an integral part of Drexel University's effective health and safety program. The department provides a variety of online training courses to University departments to regularly inform faculty and staff of the current standardized practices and procedures that have been developed to protect the health and safety of students, employees and visitors on University campuses.
