Personal Statement:

Professor Walter Sobkiw is the course developer for SYSE 688: Systems Engineering Analysis.  In addition to teaching, he has held various government, defense, and commercial positions at the FAA, Hughes Aircraft, E-Systems, Contraves-USA, Nielsen Media Research, MITRE Lockheed Martin, L-3 Communications, etc. He has worked in Air Defense, Air Traffic Control, Simulation Training, and Communications for over 35 years. For several years he also advised University of Pennsylvania students on their systems engineering sustainable development senior design projects.

Professor Sobkiw is a Drexel alumni, graduating with a B.S. Electrical Engineering in 1979.  He has authored papers at technical conferences and has written two textbooks on systems engineering and one book on sustainability and systems engineering.  He is also active with the Delaware Valley chapter of INCOSE (International Council of Systems Engineering). His interests are practices for large complex systems engineering and their application to new areas.
