Biography

Stephen Smith, PhD has been with the Engineering Management Program at Drexel since 1993, and he has held multiple positions, including Associate Dean, Director, and Professor. As Associate Dean of Online Learning, Smith was responsible for effective administration and growth of online and on-campus graduate engineering programs. He developed and taught the first web-based asynchronous graduate engineering courses in College of Engineering in 1997. 

Since that time, Smith led the development of online learning for the College of Engineering and mentored faculty in distance teaching/learning techniques. As the Director of EGMT until 2008, he was instrumental in making the MS in Engineering Management the first fully online degree program in the College of Engineering.  Prior to his roles with Drexel, Smith was Vice President of Corporate Development for National Environmental Testing and also Planning Manager for ARCO Chemical Company.

Currently, Smith is the Course Developer and Subject Matter Expert for EGMT 531: Economics of Engineering Management, EGMT 535: Financial Management I, and EGMT 536: Financial Management II. He is also an Executive Consultant in Technical Leadership Development.
