Nuclear Engineering Minor The Nuclear Engineering (NE) minor is open to all engineering majors and is designed to provide an introduction to the wide-ranging content of the nuclear engineering field. The minor consists of 6 required courses for 17 credits plus a minimum of 9 credits of electives for a total of 26 credits. The NE minor electives must be chosen from at least two principal areas including: Power Engineering, Industrial Applications, Nuclear & Thermal Engineering & Science, Materials, Transport Phenomena and Simulation. The minor assumes that students will have a background in mathematics and physics equivalent to that covered in the first two years of the engineering curriculum. The required prerequisites for the Nuclear Engineering minor are PHYS 101, PHYS 102, ENGR 210 and ENGR 220. Courses taken to meet these pre-requisite requirements will not count toward the minor.
