Robert Koerner is the Director of the Geosynthetic Research Institute and is an Emeritus Professor in Drexel’s Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering department.
Through the past 50 years, Dr. Koerner’s passion for education and research application of geosynthetic civil engineering practice have earned him the highest levels of achievement in teaching, research and engineering practice. In recognition of his excellence, Dr. Koerner was inducted into the prestigious National Academy of Engineering in 1998.
Dr. Koerner, a native of Philadelphia, received both his bachelors and masters in civil engineering from Drexel University. In 2002, Dr. Koerner and his family established the Koerner Family Fellowship, which is awarded to individuals who pursue doctoral studies in all areas of engineering.
