Senior Design Competition 2010
Drexel Engineering hosted the Senior Design Group Competition June 2, 2010 in the Mitchell Auditorium. The competition was sponsored by the Environmental Tectonics Corporation and Zodiac Aerospace. Eight groups of engineering design projects were selected as finalists to present their work during this last round with at least one group from each department. Congratulations to all teams!

Driving to the $10 Million Jackpot
Its been a long-winding road for the West Philly Hybrid X Team (EVX). For 11 years, they’ve been building and racing alternative fuel vehicles. Now, they’re in it to win. The EVX team that's partnered with Philadelphia Academies, Inc., passed the next stage of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize, a $10 million competition to build the best 100 MPG vehicle.

Rose Receives Drexel University Myers Award for Distinguished Service
Dorilona Rose, Operations Manager in MSE, is the recipient of the 2009-2010 Harold M. Myers Distinguished Service Award. This is the most prestigious service award presented to a faculty or staff member of the Drexel community who has gone above and beyond their position in service to the university community.

Drexel Engineering is pleased to announce that MEM Senior and ASME President Nathan Taylor was awarded the prestigious 2010 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Charles T. Main First Place Award.

Drexel Engineering Celebrates National Lab Day
The College of Engineering is celebrating the kickoff of National Lab Day May 12, 2010. Drexel Engineering will be supporting NLD by building local communities that will foster ongoing collaborations among volunteers, students and educators. When an educator posts a project, the Drexel Engineering system will help them get the resources needed to make that project happen.

Friedman and Team Published in PNAS for Vascular Disease Research
A study by Dr. Gary Friedman (ECE) and his former student Dr. Ben Yellen, was published in the prestigious journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) for their research on new medical treatment for vascular disease based on magnetically targeted drug delivery.

Micro-Supercapacitors to Power Electronic Devices
A paper in the April 23, 2010 issue of Science Magazine by Drs. Yury Gogotsi (MSE) and John Chmiola ('09, MSE) and their collaborators in France, describes a new method of producing high energy storage devices known as supercapacitors.

Drexel University Announces Partnership to Create Jobs
Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8th District) joined officials from Drexel University on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, to formally announce the school’s intention to create a small business incubator at the Bridge Business Center in Bristol Township.
