Drexel Engineering Celebrates National Lab Day

May 6, 2010 The College of Engineering is celebrating the kickoff of National Lab Day May 12, 2010. Drexel Engineering will be supporting NLD by building local communities that will foster ongoing collaborations among volunteers, students and educators. When an educator posts a project, the Drexel Engineering system will help them get the resources needed to make that project happen.

“To enable our community to be a part of our programs and raise awareness about engineering and the sciences, can be as simple as providing a lab tour for K-12 students” said Dr. Selcuk Guceri, dean of Drexel Engineering. “We can do this and more to make a difference. This is our call to action.”

In April of 2009, President Barack Obama issued a call to action to our nation’s scientists and engineers. The President is asking Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics leaders to bring exciting, hands-on, discovery-based experiences to students. It’s a nationwide movement to support education in schools. Drexel Engineering is taking great steps to broaden their role in STEM to make sure volunteers, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry work together to educate our leaders of the future.

Drexel Engineering is requesting people in the community to join this effort to celebrate NLD by signing up to lead an event.
