Drexel Engineering Partners with ASNE to Host 8th Annual Ships Symposium
May 20, 2009 Dr. Selçuk Güçeri, Dean of Drexel Engineering, warmly welcomed members of the military, government and industry to collaborate with the Drexel community at the 8th Annual Intelligent Ships Symposium May 20-21, 2009 at the Bossone Research Enterprise Center.
“We view this as an ideal opportunity to bring together the greatest minds in the fields of science and technology. Combining forces will take us in exciting and new directions and we encourage these future developments,” says Dr. Güçeri.
Drexel Engineering co-hosted the event with the ASNE Delaware Valley Chapter and the support of Dr. Güçeri. The event provided a forum for the military, government, academia and industry to discuss technology initiatives that provide solutions to current and future needs of the Navy. The focus of the symposium was on machinery automation, control systems technologies and tools for both ship acquisition and modernization. The symposium featured papers from industry, academia and government personnel that covered a broad spectrum of topics. In the exhibit hall, latest technologies and concepts created by industry, academia, and government personnel were displayed. Presentations included speeches from top Navy leaders who created and formulated the vision for the current U.S. Navy and beyond.
