Research.com has compiled its 2022 ranking of Rising Stars in Science, highlighting young researchers who have already made a significant impact in their field. This year Drexel Materials alum Babak Anasori, PhD placed in the top ten researchers in the United States and 32nd worldwide.
For the past 13 years, Research.com has used Microsoft Academic Graph’s H-index software to find papers published by researchers early in their career. An H-index ranking measures both the productivity and citations of published papers. Anasori has been cited over 25,000 times from over 150 publications, earning 7th place in the US ranking.
Anasori, currently an assistant professor of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, earned his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel in 2015 (advisor: Michel Barsoum) and worked at Drexel as an Research Assistant Professor with the Nanomaterials Group until 2019. In addition to his work at IUPUI, Anasori is the chair of the early career professionals subcommittee in the Materials Research Society and is the Editor in Chief of Graphene and 2D Materials at the Springer Nature Group, a publishing company based in Berlin.
