Distinguished University and Charles T. and Ruth M. Bach Professor Yury Gogotsi has been awarded the 2021 Materials Research Society (MRS) Medal. The MRS Medal recognizes a specific outstanding recent discovery or advancement that is expected to have a major impact on the progress of a materials-related field. Gogotsi is being honored for contributions to advancing the understanding of processing, structure, and properties of two-dimensional carbides and nitrides for energy storage applications.
Gogotsi will accept the honor at the 2021 MRS Fall Meeting during the MRS Award Recipients' Lightning Talks and Panel Discussion virtual event on Tuesday, December 7, at 12:00 pm (EST). During this event, he will present his lecture, Two-dimensional Carbides and Nitrides (MXenes) for Energy Storage Applications, and serve as a panelist with fellow award recipients.
MRS is an organization of more than 12,000 materials researchers from academia, industry and government worldwide, and a recognized leader in promoting the advancement of interdisciplinary materials research and technology to improve the quality of life. MRS members are students and professionals hailing from physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and engineering—the full spectrum of materials research. MRS membership now spans over 80 countries, with 45 percent of members residing outside the United States.
