Dr. Soroush Awarded NSF Grant

Dr. Masoud SoroushDr. Soroush was awarded an NSF grant for his research titled, “GOALI: Collaborative Research: Model-Predictive Safety Systems for Predictive Detection of Operation Hazards.” Model-predictive safety systems generate predictive alarm signals, allowing for predictively detecting future potential and imminent hazards in processing plants and for taking proactive preventive and mitigative actions. In this project, Dr. Soroush collaborates with Dr. Jeffrey Arbogast (Air Liquide), Dr. Warren Seider (UPenn), and Dr. Ulku Oktem (UPenn).

Drexel University will lead this collaborative project. The total NSF grant is $417,911; Drexel will receive $310,236 and UPenn $107,675 during the period of August 1, 2017 - July 31, 2020. In addition, Air Liquide will provide an in-kind support of $60,000.
