Drexel wins demo competition at ACM WinTech 2016
October 05, 2016
A collaborative Drexel ECE / Finland team recently won the “WinCool” Demo Competition at the ACM WinTech 2016 conference in New York City. The demo competition aims to highlight, "novel work in wireless network testbeds, measurement platforms and results, and innovative prototypes." Drexel's team consisted of members from the
Drexel Wireless Systems Lab
: Danh Nguyen, Dr. Nagarajan Kandasamy, and Dr. Kapil Dandekar. The demonstration uses a smart-phone based augmented reality app to visualize changing radiation patterns in radio nodes that are "learning" how to optimize their transmissions for future wireless networks. Nguyen, Kandasamy, and Dandekar developed this demonstration through collaboration with Anton Patella and Harri Saarnisaari from the University of Oulu in Finland through the NSF supported
WiFiUS
(Wireless Innovation between Finland and US) (PI Dandekar, Co-PI Weber).
