BS/MS students Ziyin Huang (advisor: Christopher Li) and Bill Nguyen have received scholarships from two materials professional societies.
Ziyin is a recipient of the Functional Materials Division (FMD) Gilbert Chin Scholarship from TMS. Ziyin will receive $2,000 for the scholarship and up to $500 for travel to attend the TMS 2016 Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee, where the award will be presented. He has additionally received the 2015 George A. Roberts Scholarship from the ASM Materials Education Foundation. The scholarship provides $6,000 towards educational expenses for one academic year and is awarded to an outstanding upperclass student who demonstrates excellence in academic and personal achievements and an interest in the materials field. The scholarship additionally provides up to $500 towards travel expenses to attend the Materials Science & Technology Conference 2015 in Columbus, OH in October.
Bill is a recipient of one of two Materials Processing and Manufacturing Division Scholarships from TMS. The scholarship provides $2,500 to undergraduate students in their sophomore or junior years who are majoring in materials. The award offers an additional $500 to attend the TMS annual meeting.
