Materials Students Receive 2014 Drexel Engineering Graduate Fellowships

Eight Drexel Materials Ph.D. students have been selected to receive College of Engineering Fellowships. 

Koerner Family Award ($5,000)

  • Christopher Barr (advisor:  Mitra Taheri)
  • Cole Smith (advisor:  Steven May)

This fund is used to provide financial assistance to promising U.S. citizen Ph.D. students in the College of Engineering. Recipients are selected and advised by members of the non-tenured faculty of each department.

George Hill, Jr. Endowed Fellowship Fund ($6,000)

  • Guannan Chen (advisor:  Jonathan Spanier)

This fund is used to provide a stipend and/or tuition assistance to graduate students who will be partially supported by a research or teaching assistantship in the College of Engineering. Recipients have demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate and graduate careers and the potential to achieve academic excellence at the Ph.D. level.  One award is made to each department.

Joseph and Shirley Carleone Endowed Fellowship Fund ($1,500)

  • Derrick Smith (advisor:  Christopher Li)
  • Laura Toth (advisor:  Caroline Schauer)
  • Katie Van Aken (advisor:  Yury Gogotsi)

This fund is used to provide financial assistance to graduate students in the College of Engineering.  Selection is based on academic merit and financial need.

Leroy Resser Endowed Fellowship Fund ($2,000)

  • Boris Dyatkin (advisor:  Yury Gogotsi)
  • Tian Zhou (advisor:  Christopher Li)

This fund is used to provide financial assistance, in the form of awards, to graduate students in the College of Engineering, based on academic merit and financial need.
