Four Engineering Students Receive Fulbright Scholarships

Four College of Engineering students were offered prestigious Fulbright Scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year:

Matt D'ArcyMatthew D’Arcy, Mechanical Engineering BS ’14, S. Korea

“Space System Research at Korea Aerospace University.”
Matt will be working on the KAUSAT-5 satellite launch, communication, and data processing.

Amanda Decker

Amanda Decker, Chemical Engineering BS/MS ’14, Germany

“Controlling Cell membrane Properties for Precise Drug Delivery.”
Amanda will be researching the mechanics behind sonoporation for precision drug delivery.

Kerry HamiltonKerry Hamilton, Environmental Engineering PhD ’16, Australia

“Roof-harvested rainwater health risks and climactic factors in Queensland, Australia.”
Kerry will be measuring concentrations of waterborne pathogens in Brisbane’s rooftop rainwater tanks in order to mathematically model and characterize the potential health risks from microorganisms.

Adams Rackes
Adams Rackes, Architectural Engineering, BS/PhD ’16, Brazil

“Energy efficiency labels for naturally ventilated buildings in Brazil.”
Adams will be working with partners in Brazil to extend the system of labeling commercial buildings for energy efficiency to naturally ventilated buildings, using simulations and statistical analysis.
