Department of Materials Science and Engineering Distinguished University and Trustee Chair Professor Yury Gogotsi has been recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher 2014” by Thomson-Reuters.
Researchers earning the distinction generated “the greatest numbers of reports officially designated by Essential Science Indicatorsâ„ as Highly Cited Papers—ranking among the top 1% most cited for their subject field and year of publication, earning them the mark of exceptional impact.”
In developing the 2014 list, Thomson-Reuters shifted away from a methodology centered around total citations, which favored more well-established researchers with lengthy publication histories, to a selection approach focused on “more contemporary achievement” and highly cited work. To do this, Thomson-Reuters only considered 2002-2012 Web of Science Core Collection Highly Cited Papers, which are those ranked in the top 1% by total citations per year, within 21 different fields.
Gogotsi is one of only 147 materials science researchers worldwide appearing on this list, and is one of three researchers included from Drexel University.
