MEM Freshman Awarded ASME Scholarships

Three Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics students were each awarded a $2000 scholarship by Drexel’s chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Current Freshman Sharifa Davis, Daniel Diazdelcastillo and Rachel Reich where chosen by other ASME members for their continued interest in studying mechanical engineering. The students were notified that they had won in November and received their award on December 6 during a celebratory dinner at Sava’s in Philadelphia with ASME officers Leila Aboharb and Ian Bournelis and their faculty advisor, Antonios Kontsos.

ASME is an international mechanical engineering society that links professionals across the world. The Drexel chapter offers weekly meetings with local engineering companies, fun volunteering opportunities, tours of local facilities and entertaining group events.

The student’s $2000 scholarships will be applied to next year’s tuition.
