CAEE Civil Engineering doctoral student Seyed Hossein Hosseini Nourzad was recently awarded the Project Management Institute (PMI) Delaware Valley Chapter Scholarship from the PMI Education Foundation. This academic scholarship is awarded to a PMI Delaware Valley Chapter member who is enrolled or applying for an accredited degree program in or related to project management. The scholarship is used to advance the recipient’s academic pursuits as they pertain to project management.
Hossein is advised by CAEE Assistant Professor Dr. Anu Pradhan. Hossein received his Bachelor of Science at the University if Tehran in Civil Engineering and his Master of Science from Iran University of Science & Technology in Water Resource Engineering and Management. Currently, his research focuses on transportation networks, where he investigates the interplay between the structure and dynamics of roadway networks. For example, he is studying the impacts of disrupting events (e.g., floods or hurricanes) on performance of roadway networks.
He is also interested in research studies related to the risk management in a network of (construction) projects. He thinks that the projects of different companies are interconnected with each other (like a network) and to better manage the risks, one needs to consider the network of projects.
Hossein also takes great pride in his responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant (TA) at Drexel. He is currently the TA for ENGR361 - Statistical Analysis of Engineering Systems and was previously awarded the 2012 Teaching Excellence Award from the Office of Graduate Studies and was recognized in 2011 as a highly commended TA. During his time at Drexel, Hossein has been a TA for five different engineering courses. Upon completing his PhD, Hossein hopes to continue his success as a teacher.
