Materials Research SocietyDrexel University's Materials Research Society (MRS) chapter has received a $2,000 grant from the Drexel University Alumni Association to host a student-alumni networking reunion at the MRS fall meeting in Boston, MA in December 2012.
This is the second year in a row that the group has received this grant to put on a reception bringing alumni and students together.
Last year's event attracted approximately 20 alumni, 30 students, and 15 faculty members. Department head and professor Antonios Zavaliangos presented an overview of the university and the department followed by 10 short presentations from graduate students, summarizing ongoing research in their respective groups. President John "Jake" McDonough (advisor: Yury Gogotsi) plans to replicate last year's successful event that was organized by last year's Drexel MRS chapter president Riju Singhal (advisor: Yury Gogotsi).
