Drexel's annual "Inspire a Child to Dream Day" brought approximately 170 children and relatives of Drexel employees to campus to introduce them to different careers at the university on Thursday, April 26, 2012. The event coincides with the national "Take Your Daughter/Son to Work Day."
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering under the leadership of Professor Christopher Weyant and Ph.D. students Christopher Barr (advisor: Mitra Taheri), Eric Laird (advisor: Christopher Li), and Cole Smith (advisor: Steven May) taught the participants to make slime and bouncy balls from borax. A good time was had by all.
This event is one of many outreach activities the department participates in to introduce young people to the exciting world of materials science and engineering.
