Distinguished University and Trustee Chair Professor Yury Gogotsi (right) receives the ECA Award in June 2012.Distinguished University and Trustee Chair Professor Yury Gogotsi has been designated as the second person to be chosen to be the Laureate for the European Carbon Association (ECA) Award 2012.
Created in 2009, the award is given every three years on the occasion of the European edition of the World Conference on Carbon and is selected by vote of the ECA members' representatives from nominations made by individuals.
Gogotsi is being honored with this award in recognition of his involvement in the education and training of young carbon-scientist-to-be students, as well as contributions to the research activity of several European laboratories and groups in France, Germany, and Ukraine.
An award certificate and €1000 will be presented to Gogotsi on June 21, 2012 at the World Conference on Carbon to be held in Cracow, Poland June 17-22, 2012.
