Alumni, donors, faculty, professional staff and students participated in the Drexel Engineering Golf Tournament on June 25 at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club to benefit the Drexel Engineering scholarship fund. Contributions from the Golf Tournament aid students each year, helping gifted students complete their Drexel engineering education. This year, the tournament helped raise money for two engineering students, Julian Kemmerer, a pre-junior pursuing a degree in computer engineering and enrolled in Drexel’s BS/MS program and Teena Thomas, a sophomore planning to enroll in the BS/MS program in chemical engineering.
At the dinner and ceremony, the students expressed gratitude and shared personal stories on how they are able to continue their education at Drexel University and excel thanks to donors.
“The Drexel Engineering scholarship is very important in leading me on the path to achieving my academic and career goals; I am sincerely grateful for your generous contribution to the fund,” said Teena Thomas, one of the scholarship recipients.
Julian Kemmerer shared Thomas’ sentiment. “Awards like these have given me the opportunity to attend Drexel University, an experience that has made me the person I am today. With my Drexel education, I know I can choose any career I wish and that I am well prepared to succeed."
Joseph Hughes, Dean of Drexel Engineering, congratulated and thanked all participants, prize winners and donors for their help in raising money to benefit Drexel Engineering students in need of financial assistance.
