The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (MEM) is comprised of a highly diverse group of faculty and is dedicated to providing students with a challenging academic program, exciting research opportunities and the ability to gain real-world engineering experience through Drexel’s co-operative education program.
MEM faculty are dedicated to teaching and curriculum development, innovative research endeavors and scholarly activities of the highest caliber. Research interests span the areas of plasma engineering, robotics, cardiovascular biomechanics, computer-aided tissue engineering, fuel cell technology, MEMS, mechanics and structures and air and space system design.
Transferring knowledge to the next generation of mechanical engineers and preparing them to hold esteemed positions in academia, industry and research laboratories nationally and around the globe is our highest priority. Our innovative curriculum prepares graduates with broad technical knowledge, design proficiency, ethics and professionalism, and the vital communications skills necessary to succeed in the various branches of mechanical engineering and make positive contributions to society. Looking ahead, mechanical engineers are expected to be in great demand, as our society will rely on their abilities to analyze, design and improve mechanical processes and manufacture new and improved products and tools.
