Materials Science and Engineering
Description
Materials Engineers play a vital role in our increasingly complex technological society. They extend the limited supply of materials, improve existing materials, and develop new, superior, and sustainable materials and processes with an awareness of cost, reliability, safety, and ecological implications. An increasing number of materials engineers address the pivotal role of materials selection and performance in energy applications, including generation, conversion, and storage. Innovations in materials offer exciting entrepreneurial opportunities. Drexel’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering has a number of custom tracks that allow upper level students to concentrate their technical electives in areas of specialization, including nanomaterials/nanotechnology, biomaterials, electronic and photonic materials, soft materials, and polymers.
