Strategic Plan 2013-2018
In March 2012, Drexel University College of Engineering officially announced the start of a strategic planning process that produced a Strategic Plan laying out the College’s vision and goals for the next five years. To lead this effort, the College established a Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), with representation from each of Engineering’s academic departments, staff, students and selected faculty of other Drexel colleges.
The Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Joseph B. Hughes, charged the Strategic Planning Committee to lead a rigorous and thoughtful process with the goal of crafting a transformative yet achievable vision for the College’s future. Dean Hughes insisted that the planning process be open, transparent and highly inclusive — one that gathered ideas, perspectives and suggestions from across the College and University.
The College’s strategic planning process had the full support of Drexel University President John A. Fry and was facilitated by strategy consultants Anthony Knerr & Associates (AKA). With their support and guidance, but more importantly with the broad participation of its entire community, the College of Engineering immersed itself in a vigorous process of debate and discussion resulting in a dynamic vision of its future, and the strategies to achieve it.
