Academic Resources for ELC Students

The English Language Center's Tutoring program offers one-on-one tutoring as well as small group workshops to assist students with their language learning needs. At the beginning of each term, students are provided information about ELC tutoring and sign-up instructions.

One-on-One Tutoring

Each term, free tutoring is available for all students studying in the Intensive English Program. Students may sign up for a 30-minute tutoring appointment to receive help on class assignments or with general questions about English. Typically tutoring runs for eight weeks each term, beginning in the second week of classes. Some common topics are:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Grammar
  • General Conversation
  • IELTS and TOEFL Preparation
  • American Idioms and Expressions

Workshops

Free, small-group workshops on a variety of topics are offered on select afternoons throughout the term. These workshops are open to all ELC students, and no advanced sign-up is required.  Information about workshops will be sent via email and announced in classes.

Academic Advising for University Study

Academic Advising is offered for all ELC students. Students interested in pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at Drexel University or other four-year American universities are encouraged to schedule advising sessions with the Assistant Director of Student Services.
