The English Language Center prepares students for study in a United States university. An advanced level of English proficiency is needed for success in a U.S. university. We recommend that students attending our program prepare with a strong foundation in English speaking and writing before you arrive.

Here are some questions to help you decide if the ELC is right for you.

  • I can read short stories in English and simple magazine articles
  • I can understand most conversations in English about topics like family, school, food, and travel
  • I can understand some reports in English about current events and university lectures
  • I can use English vocabulary to tell stories about family, school, food, leisure time, travel

If you are able to do all of these activities, the ELC is a good program for your needs.

  • Intensive English: 6- and 11-week courses year round for beginning to advanced level students, including pre-academic coursework and TOEFL or IELTS preparation.
  • The Language of STEM: A high-intermediate to advanced level course  for students pursuing graduate studies in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
