Drexel English Language Center Celebrates 25 Years!

The first session of the ELC took place the summer of 1989 with 12 students in MacAlister Hall.  Since then, over 9,000 students from more than 100 countries have studied at the ELC.  In addition to our intensive English program, the ELC programs include the summer orientation and language program for international graduate teaching assistants,  the Global Business English (GLOBE) program  for international students entering business programs, and many special grant-funded programs such as the European Student Leaders and the Pre-Academic Program for Fulbright grantees. Through these initiatives as well as the academic programs preparing international students for undergraduate and post graduate studies via the International Gateway, University Preparation (UPREP), and Drexel Graduate Bridge programs,   the ELC continues to provide leadership in English language teaching, scholarship and intercultural understanding.

This page is dedicated to all who have contributed to the English Language Center's growth and success over the past 25 years as well as to those who continue to uphold the mission the ELC.  We invite you to celebrate with us and share in our stories.
