Welcome to the Delaware Valley Science Fairs (DVSF) web site. This is the 69th year for the Fairs. I extend congratulations to all the participants. Every student who participates is a winner, not because they have won an award, but because they have started and completed a research project. Over the years, this program has continued to grow and prosper. More students and schools are involved today than ever before. This "Inquiry-based hands-on" approach to learning STEM is proven. It works! And in fact, "Inquiry" is now a top priority in the state standards for both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I am convinced that if we challenge our youth and provide them with the opportunity and encouragement, they will succeed. This process, however, needs the guidance of a dedicated teacher - someone who will stay a little later at school and work a little harder with the students. I celebrate these teachers. Without their dedication, this program would not exist. We hope that this web site will provide information to assist teachers and students in doing a research project.
Since last year's Fair we have been offering teacher workshops about the science fair process. Our mentorship program continues to be available to any student. For more information about our workshops, or the mentorship follow these links.
I want to thank Drexel University, our sponsors, and those individuals who have contributed their time and money to keep this program going. DVSF is not supported by public funds. The program must rely entirely on corporations, foundations and individuals who want to make a contribution to our future generation of scientists and engineers. Unlike many non-profit organizations, contributions go directly to the program and not to salaries or overhead. One way to give is through the United Way. Another way is through our recently established donate.
We are committed to preparing tomorrow's innovators. I believe that if we provide the opportunity for the natural curiosity of our young people to blossom, they will provide us with a bright future.
