All About Incentive Awards

Incentive awards are financial gifts from Drexel to students who meet certain criteria. They are non-need-based awards and do not need to be repaid. All incentive awards offered by Drexel University are applied towards tuition only unless otherwise noted.

Please note: students in the Radiological Technology, Nursing Accelerated Career Entry (11 Month and 24 Months) and online programs are not eligible for incentive awards. 

Dragon Alumni Scholarship

The Dragon Alumni Scholarship program allows graduates of Drexel University to provide recommendations for prospective Drexel students. Recipients will receive a total of $4,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel. The Dragon Alumni Scholarship will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

In order to be considered for a Dragon Alumni Scholarship, you must be a prospective full-time freshmen or undergraduate transfer student who will be attending a face-to-face program, complete the Dragon Alumni Request Form and have a Drexel alum endorse you. You can continue to receive this award each year you are enrolled full-time in your undergraduate program.

Dragon Family Scholarship

The Dragon Family Scholarship is offered to two or more children from the same family who attend or graduated from Drexel University as undergraduates. Recipients will receive a total of $12,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel. The Dragon Family Scholarship will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

Qualified students who enrolled prior to fall 2009 will receive a total of $5,600 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel. The Dragon Family Scholarship will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

In order to be considered for a Dragon Family Scholarship, you must be a prospective full-time freshmen or undergraduate transfer student who will be attending a face-to-face program and indicate on your admissions application that your sibling is currently or has previously attended and graduated from an undergraduate program at Drexel.

Drexel Environmental Science Leadership Academy Scholarship

The Drexel Environmental Science Leadership Academy Scholarship is available to incoming freshmen students who have participated in the summer academy program. Recipients will receive a total of $8,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel provided they maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and remain at a full-time status. The Drexel Environmental Science Leadership Academy Scholarship will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

In order to be considered for the Drexel Environmental Science Leadership Academy Scholarship, you must submit a complete admissions application by the January 15 deadline.

Drexel Legacy Scholarship

The Drexel Legacy Scholarship is offered to children and grandchildren of Drexel University alumni. Legacy scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program. Recipients will receive a total of $12,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel. The Dragon Legacy Scholarship will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

In order to be considered for a Dragon Legacy Scholarship, you must be a prospective full-time freshmen or undergraduate transfer student who will be attending a face-to-face program and indicate on your admissions application that your parent or grandparent is an alum of Drexel.

Drexel Early FAFSA Grant

The Drexel Early FAFSA Grant is offered to prospective full-time students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Freshmen or Transfer priority deadline. The $1,000 award is applied to the first year's tuition only and will be prorated across the 3 quarters of in-class study this first year and is not renewable.

Drexel Endowed Scholarship

The Drexel Endowed Scholarship is a non need-based award offered to incoming freshmen students. This award is applied towards the cost of tuition only and is renewable provided you maintain full-time enrollment in subsequent years of your undergraduate program.

Drexel Dragon Award

The Drexel Dragon Award is a non need-based award offered to incoming freshmen students. This award is applied towards the cost of tuition only and is renewable provided you maintain  full-time enrollment in subsequent years of your undergraduate program.

Drexel Dragon Scholarship

The Drexel Dragon Scholarship is a non need-based award offered to incoming freshmen students. This award is applied towards the cost of tuition only and is renewable provided you maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and full-time enrollment in subsequent years of your undergraduate program.

Returning Scholars Award (Visiting Scholars)

Drexel University offers Returning Scholars scholarships to incoming freshmen students who are participants in the Visiting Scholars program. Recipients will receive a total of $4,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel provided they maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and remain at a full-time status. The Returning Scholars Award will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

In order to be considered for the Returning Scholars Scholarship, you must submit a complete admissions application by the January 15th deadline.

Returning Scholars Award (Summer Institute Students)

Drexel University offers Returning Scholars scholarships to incoming freshmen students who are participants in Drexel's Summer Institute programs. Recipients will receive a total of $4,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel provided they maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and remain at a full-time status. The Returning Scholars Award will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

In order to be considered for the Returning Scholars Scholarship, you must submit a complete admissions application by the January 15th deadline.

Travel Tuition Reduction Program

The Drexel Travel Reduction Program allows you to receive a one-time award applied to tuition only of up to $500.00, distributed on your first quarter of in-class study , as a reimbursement for certain travel expenses related to any official visit you made to Drexel University as a prospective freshman or undergraduate transfer student. In order to be considered for the Travel Reduction Award, you must have attended an event sponsored by the Undergraduate Admissions Office and live at least 150 miles away from our University City Campus and submit original, itemized receipts along with the Travel Tuition Reduction Program Form required for reimbursement consideration.

Eligible expenses include economy travel by train, plane, bus, and car (mileage at the current university reimbursement rate), and one standard hotel room for one night. Ineligible expenses include but are not limited to the cost of meals, luxury accommodations, and expenses that do not include an original, itemized receipt.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (PTK)

The PTK Scholarship is offered to full-time transfer students who are active members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Recipients will receive up to a total of $6,000 that will be applied over their academic program at Drexel. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship will be prorated across the expected 12 quarters of in-class study (non-co-op) portion of their undergraduate education. This award will not be applied in excess of 12 terms and pays towards tuition only.

PTK Scholarship recipients enrolled at Drexel at Burlington County College, Drexel at Montgomery County Community College or Drexel at Delaware County Community College, are eligible to receive $500 each quarter of class registration, with a total amount not to exceed $6,000 in their undergraduate program.

In order to be considered for the PTK Scholarship, you must be a prospective full-time transfer student who will be attending a program on campus and indicate on your admissions application that you are an active member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Please note that Nursing ACE, RN-BSN Degree Completion, Invasive Cardiovascular Technology, and Radiologic Technology applicants are not eligible for this scholarship.

Drexel Grad Grant

The Drexel Grad Grant is for available to all graduate applicants who are an undergraduate Drexel alumnus or alumna. The grant pays $100 for every credit hour you enroll for during your first four consecutive quarters of your graduate program.

In order to be considered for the Grad Grant, you must be a prospective graduate student who will be attending a program on campus and indicate on your admissions application that you previously received an undergraduate degree from Drexel (bachelor of science/bachelor of arts degrees only; RAD Tech and undergraduate certificate level degrees are not qualifying degree programs for this award).

This award cannot be combined with any other graduate aid from the university, including Dean's Fellowships and Awards; teaching, research, and graduate assistantships; and any other college-specific aid. Grad Grant eligibility may not be carried forward to future terms due to periods of inactivity or ineligibility after the first term of enrollment.

Drexel-Kaplan Graduate Degree Advantage Program

Any student who enrolls in a Drexel graduate school program after taking a Kaplan preparation course for the GRE or GMAT will receive tuition credit equal to the amount paid to Kaplan for the preparation course. Students who have participated in Kaplan's private tutoring session in preparation for the GRE or GMAT are eligible to receive a tuition credit of up to $1,200.

In order to be considered for the Drexel-Kaplan Tuition Grant, you will need to present your original receipts for the Kaplan course or tutoring session to the Graduate Admissions Office prior to enrollment.
