Forum for Inclusive Culture
The Forum for Inclusive Culture ("I-Forum") is dedicated to ensuring that our University is welcoming to all members of our diverse community and that all members feel understood. This requires building a community characterized by cooperation, listening, and care, rather than hierarchy, inflexibility, and isolation. Our goal is to work together to develop and implement a cultural framework that will ensure we are caring for the physical, psychological, social, and moral wellness of all members of our microcommunities and the Drexel community at large, and that we are modeling norms that are compatible with the evolving ethics of work and social life.
The next meeting of the Forum for Inclusive Culture (“I-Forum”) will take place on Thursday, November 02, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., James E. Marks Intercultural Center, 3225 Arch Street. Please feel free to bring your lunch; we will provide beverages and other treats. Please email email@example.com to RSVP, provide feedback on the discussion topic, and/or suggest additional agenda items.
One topic that has repeatedly surfaced in our conversations is the idea of boundaries, in various forms: just to name a few, we’ve tangentially addressed the emotional and temporal boundaries we set in the interests of self-care, the boundaries of what makes discourse positive and challenging or merely offensive, and how to break down boundaries that stand in the way of inclusion. At our next meeting, we will be putting the idea of boundaries front and center.
About the I-Forum: The I-Forum is an open-membership coalition of students, faculty, professional staff, and community members that gathers no less than quarterly to address issues of diversity and inclusion on Drexel’s campus. Meetings typically begin with announcements, have a central discussion topic, and close out with suggestions, determination of next steps, and troubleshooting. All are welcome to come and participate, and we value newcomers who keep the group fresh and responsive to developments on campus. Join us!
