Term Switch Summer to Fall Term

Summer To Fall Term Switch

On Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10 a.m., Drexel University residence halls will close for the Summer to for all students WITHOUT a Fall 2012 assignment. On Sunday, September 9, 2012, University Housing and the Residential Living Office will operate the quarterly Term Switch process for those students who are moving into a Fall assignment.

Term Break Housing is available to all students with both a Summer 2012 and a Fall 2012 assignment. There is no fee for Term Break Housing. All students will reside in their Fall 2012 assignment over Term Break.

Timeline of Term Switch:

Date Action
Saturday, September 8, 2012 By 10 a.m.: All students who do NOT have a Fall 2012 Housing Assignment must move out
Sunday, September 9, 2012 Term Switch starts at 10 a.m. Consult your Closing Notice, sent to your Drexel email account, for your personalized move-out time and instructions.

The Term Switch Process is designed to close one academic term and open another on the same day - often times within a few hours. University Housing and Residential Living Staff will be on-site to manage this process. Your patience is very much appreciated while this process is underway.

If you are Staying in the Same Assignment:

  • You will receive a new Roommate! Please ensure that your suite and/or bedroom is ready to accept a new roommate by tidying all common spaces, cleaning your bathroom, and removing personal belongings from any unused bedroom furniture. Failure to prepare your space for a new roommate will result in a moving/cleaning fine. University Housing is not responsible for any belongings which are lost or stolen should University staff or contracted vendors need to move personal belongings for an incoming student.

If you are moving into a new Assignment:

  • University Housing will have sent a cleaning staff into your suite prior to your arrival. This is a light cleaning and designed to provide service in your new bedroom only. University Housing and The Residential Living Office encourage all remaining students to thoroughly clean their suites/apartments, including kitchens and bathrooms, prior to your arrival.
  • Cleaning staff may come to your suite again during the Term Break week to do additional cleaning
  • Please also know that it is also very possible that you will be moving into an assignment on Term Switch Day that was only vacated earlier that day. For this reason, University Housing may need extra time to prepare the space for your arrival.
