Winter Break

Winter Break 2015 Information will be available soon!

NOTE: The following information applies to the December 2014 Winter Break. Winter Break Information for December 2015 will be posted soon.

The Fall 2014 academic term ends on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Any student who does not have a Winter 2015 housing application must move out of their Fall 2014 assignment by 10am on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

The University's residence halls and Greek Houses will remain open during the Winter 2014 Term Break from Saturday, December 13, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015.

During this low-occupancy period, University Housing (UH) and the Residential Living Office (RLO) strongly encourage those students who stay on campus to be mindful of their surroundings and to always lock their doors while not in their room.


To be eligible for Winter Break Housing, student must:

  • Have a Fall 2014 Housing Assignment
  • Have a Winter 2015 Housing Assignment
  • Register for Winter Break Housing through Housing OnDemand between Friday, October 31, 2014 Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:59pm.
University City Campus residence halls will remain open for the Winter Break for all students who have registered for Term Break Housing. There is no fee for Term Break Housing.

Those students eligible for Winter Break Housing must register through Housing OnDemand between Friday, October 31, 2014 and Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:59pm, except those living in Greek Housing and graduate students residing in Stiles Hall.

Only those students who are registered for Winter Break by the deadline will have card access to their assigned residence hall during the Break Period.

Students do not need to register if they do not plan to enter their residence hall during winter break. Students with both a Fall 2014 and Winter 2015 Housing assignment may leave their belongings in their room during the break.

Winter Break Guest Policy/Code of Conduct

NOTE: As of 5pm on Friday, December 12, 2014, registration for Winter Break Guests has ended.

Guests are any individuals that a student registered for Winter Break Housing would like to sign into the residence hall at any time during term break. Guests must be registered in advance even if they are not staying overnight. Residents who are signed up to stay in the halls over the winter break and who wish to have guests during that time must follow the following protocol:

  • You must give the guests’ names and the date range they will be staying (not to exceed 3 days)

  • All guests must have photo ID to enter the building

  • All requests are subject to approval by the Resident Director of the building

  • Any guests not registered by Friday, December 12th at 5pm will not be allowed to enter the building: NO EXCEPTIONS

All students residing on campus are expected to abide by the Drexel University code of conduct, available in the Student Handbook.


Facilities Notice

The Winter Break period is an optimal time for University Facilities to inspect and repair areas of our residence halls. As always, University Housing will provide as much notice as possible if entrance to residence hall rooms is required!

Housing Cancellations

A student who cancels their Winter 2015 housing between Saturday, December 13, 2014 and Saturday, January 3, 2015, must immediately vacate their assignment and are subject to a $45 per night fee for each night used.
