McClain earned his PhD in Mass Media and Communication from Temple University, where he also earned an MA in Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media. He enjoys researching and teaching about the role, significance, and impact of media, mass communication, and popular culture in our everyday lives. He is a frequent contributor to various national and regional conferences about such topics. For the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association, McClain is co‐chair of the Professional Development area. For the Mid‐Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association, McClain serves as co‐chair of the Music area, as chair and founder of the Journalism and News Media area, and on their executive board. His professional experience has ranged from street marketing and branding consultation to audio production and event planning.
