Communication at Drexel

Drexel’s distinctive degree in communication provides specialization in three cutting-edge fields: 1) corporate & public relations, 2) technical and science communication, and 3) global journalism. Career opportunities abound in all fields.
Senior Project
The senior project, an exciting feature of our program, is required of all communication students. Each student designs a senior project that exhibits professional communication skills.
Corporate & public relation senior projects have included the development of promotional materials for the Valley Forge Audubon Society; YUHU, an arts program for homeless children;Y100 radio station; and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Other corporate & public relation projects have included events planning for the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Holmesburg Prison, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Habitat for Humanity.
Technical and science communication senior projects have been impressive. Students have designed such projects as manuals for computer software that enables the deaf to communicate more effectively, a Silo Electronics guide for audio equipment, and a Web page for a nationally known research center.
Global journalism senior projects have included content analysis of the New York Times coverage of the Rwanda tragedy, and the creation of www.abinka.org — a news, arts, and entertainment website.
Drexel’s Technological Orientation
