Approved Electives from Other Departments

Particular courses from other departments may be used to satisfy the two graduate elective requirements. Not all graduate courses from other departments satisfy the elective requirements — only the approved courses below. (Note: Students who have taken the pre-core courses CS 520 and 571 are not eligible to count the external courses below toward their degree, since CS 520 and 571 already count as the two electives in this category.)

Consult the SRC course listing [External Link] and the other departments for more information about the staffing, time, and location of these courses. You do not have to seek the Graduate Advisor’s permission to take a graduate course from this list. If there is a course that you’d be interested in taking but is not on the list, please email the Graduate Program Coordinator to have the course reviewed for approval.
