Vice President and Chief Compliance, Privacy and Internal Audit Officer
Edward G. Longazel, MHA, CHC, CHRC, is the vice president and chief compliance and privacy officer at Drexel University. Ed has been serving as the College of Medicine chief compliance officer since the inception of the program in April 2000. In October 2002, as a result of new requirements of the federal law, he was also appointed privacy officer for the University. Prior to joining Drexel, Ed was a managing director for KPMG LLP with its Forensic and Litigation Services practice in Philadelphia. In that role, he provided independent forensic and investigative consulting services to universities and businesses across the country. Ed was the first director of the Office of Billing Compliance for the University of Pennsylvania Health System, following his role as the director of reimbursement for its clinical practices.
Ed also serves as adjunct faculty at Drexel, teaching Health Administration and Managed Care courses at the undergraduate level. He is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Kimberly has a long and successful prior employment history with a major insurance company before joining the Compliance Office in 2000. She is primarily responsible for providing assistance to the Vice President Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer. Kim also assists the Directors of Compliance and Privacy Services and maintains the day to day appointment scheduling for all. Kim is responsible for coordinating production of all compliance data-base and report activities.
Executive Director of Compliance Services
Linda has been with Drexel since 2000 and manages the auditing, monitoring and education activity of the program. She is a Hahnemann School of Nursing graduate with an MBA from Pennsylvania State University. Linda holds certifications from both American Academy of Professional Coders (CPC) and Healthcare Compliance Association (CHC). She combines the valuable clinical acumen of a registered nurse with the regulatory driven expectations within the compliance and coding fields. Her understanding of these areas enables her to design coding and documentation education that is at once practical and effective. Linda comes to Drexel from a large faculty practice plan in the city with a government mandated compliance program. Her master's level business administration expertise has enabled Drexel to build an effective and efficient voluntary compliance program.
Senior Compliance Analyst
Madeline joined the Compliance Office as a Compliance Analyst in 2006. Prior to joining the Compliance Department Madeline worked as a senior coder for the Departments of Radiology and Cardiology. She is a Certified Profession Coder. Madeline is responsible for conducting audits and assists in the education of physicians and residents. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration, with a minor in Medical Coding and Medical Billing from Drexel University.
Michelle is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). She joined the department of Compliance, Privacy and Internal Audit in 2016 as a Compliance Analyst. Michelle has been with Drexel University for over 30 years. Michelle worked with the Drexel Cardiothoracic Surgery department as the Primary Coder. In 2014, she transitioned to the Drexel College of Medicine Clinical Informatics Group. During her time with the Clinical Informatics Group, Michelle supported the Meaningful Use Project, by completing the Meaningful Use Attestations for Eligible Providers. Michelle also worked with the Pay for Performance initiative between Drexel University College of Medicine and Health Care Insurance carriers.

Executive Director of Privacy Services
Robert Asante, MBA, CISA, CISSP, HCISPP is the Executive Director, Privacy Services for the Health Sciences. Robert supported the migration process after the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) acquisition. He helped setup the first Allscript's site at Drexel College of Medicine and played a lead role in deploying Allscripts equipment. In 2012, Robert accepted his current position enhancing the department's technical ability to address the regulatory Privacy requirements of HIPAA and the HITECH Act while meeting the critical clinical, research and education missions of DUCoM and Drexel.
Robert earned a BS in Computer Technology and a dual MBA concentration in Finance and Management Information Systems from Drexel University. Robert also holds (ISC)² and ISACA certifications, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), and HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) respectively. Prior to his current position, he was the President of Asante Systems & Management LLC with contracts to provide for the centralization of global technology for authentication and application security, security audits, compliance process improvement and project management in an international banking environment. He was responsible for reviewing, approving and streamlining the product handoff process between engineering and operations.
