  • Dean Murasko Receives Award for Support of Women in the Sciences

    Dr. Donna Murasko, dean and professor of biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel, was selected to receive the Elizabeth Bingham Mentoring Award from the Philadelphia chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS). The award honors Murasko’s extraordinary support of women in science, most notably for students and faculty members of the Department of Physics at Drexel. In her role as dean, Murasko has been instrumental in increasing the number of female faculty members in traditionally male-dominated departments such as physics, recognizing that having female faculty members as role models is a critical factor in providing a welcoming environment for female students. Moreover, she supported the establishment of the Women in Physics Society at Drexel, a student group aimed at attracting and supporting female students in the physics program.
